hi guys... i replaced 2 blown pistons and rings in my 90hp 1990 force L-drive.

i have 2 wires that i can not remember where they go. I have looking in the Clymer and i cannot find them.
I am quite new to boat engines but have learned so much so far, i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

First one is coming out of my Cylinder Head. Either a ground wire or for a switch.

the other wire is a ground for something. it is grounded to the block with a couple other grounds on the same bolt. Im assuming the other end is suppose to go to the ignition somewhere. the wire is only about 6-7 inches long so it has to be close.

The first pic is your overheat sensor. Im not sure about L drives but there should be a terminal somewhere on the powerhead that it goes to with the other orange wire. The bottom pic looks like the ground wire from your coils and it attaches to one of the bolts on the transfer port covers which it what your fuel pump attaches to.

i figured out the temp sensor

but this short wire is still looking for a home

it is connected to this bolt. there are also the 3 ground wires from the ignition coil that go to this bolt.

would the other loose end be grounded to the block somewhere to run as a ground lead for the ignition coils? can i use any bolt on the engine block as a ground?

Kabona,

I think the second one (the short black one) connects to an unpainted bolt close to your fuel pumps to ground it out to the block.

On my 150 it hangs below the coil pack bracket.

Yes it needs to ground to the engine block. Should be somewhere within reach of that wire. Don't try to start without it grounded or you will fry your cdi and cd boxes.
