Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN)
for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with
his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN
SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE
IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN
INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he
could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio
(MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his
search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another
discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on
his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE)
and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't
find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

Re: Cant find job

All of those jobs making cheap products are in those foreign countries because Americans wont work for under $1/hr.

Exception: The "German" car was probably made in USA. That is probably the only "good paying job" mentioned.

Maybe if the government did a better job of enforcing our copywrite and patent laws, these foreign companies wouldn't be able to undermine our economy!?

Kenny

Re: Cant find job

I was at the mall one day with my friend who like to buy expensive clothes. We were at one of the high dollar stores (Parisians) and he was looking at shirts. The price was $86. for a shirt. I asked a clerk why the price was so high (much to the embarrassment of my friend) and the clerk said it was the quality of the garments. I picked up a shirt and read the tag, "made in Malasia." I said "what? a six year old makes a better shirt than an adult American? Maybe it's all the practice they get working 20 hours a day" We were shown out of the shore. After a long discussion on the subject and a comparitive shopping trip, he now buys the same shirts at Wally World for $10. and gets his good clothes from the haberdashery made in England and Itally.

I laugh when I see people paying high prices for clothes made in Asia. I lived in Thailand and you could buy the same quality shirts from street vendors for less than 10 bucks.

As for the out of work Americans, it is sad, but one cannot expect to make a ton of money doing work that anybody can be trained to do. For some reason (hint..unions), someone has told the American people we should all make tons of money even if you do a simple job.

Ken
