Re: canvas help

those rails on the sides of the boat (a) is where one could mount a bimini, it allows it to slide up and out of the way when need be...as you now have a top mounted on your gunwhale/windshield frame I dont believe "A" is used at all any longer. is your canvas original to the boat or was it replaced at some time?. not sure about the oritentation of your b & c....that eyelet that is mounted on your gunwhale aft of your b&C is for the strap at the back of the canvas.....is their as strap there to attach....if not you may be backwards...

Re: canvas help

I think that B should slide approx half way up on pole C so that when B is set to 90 degrees from C, the top of the frame should be close to the same height as the top of C. It looks as though the top of frame A resides in a zipped pocket. If there are some gaps in that long pocket, then there may be straps that go from the top of C to the top of B for support. My last boat was like that.http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/waju2/DSC01007.jpg

what do you mean by eyelet on gunwhale aft?? not familiar with that terminology.
no there isnt any strap attachement or straps itself.

the entire back side has a cover so the other piece is zipped to the part that is handing there as you can see.

No there isnt a zipped pocket there. here is another picture to show the other side.
The problem is if i have the canvas set like that..it doesnt stay that way since it wants to fall forward. so i though the part labeled A was to keep it from falling.
Both of the rods are zipped to the canvas at the top so they dont have much play. i cant even slide B up too much because the rods are zipped so it wont go much higher like in your boat.

Oh i have no idea if this canvas was original to the boat or put in. when i bought the boat it came this way and the last owner never even used this canvas so he has no clue. the sides dont even fit! so i need to modify that and make it bigger so it can fit..these are see through

Re: canvas help

There's a metal loop mounted to the top side of the edge of your boat (visible in the starboard side picture, near the mirror of the white car) just aft of the step plate. There should be a matching metal loop on the port side. You should have two straps connected to these loops and bar "C" to hold open the canvas and keep it taut.

FYI, the gunwale (pronounced "gunnel") is the top edge of a boat's sidewall.

Re: canvas help

If you don't have straps, use short lengths of line until you get some.

There is a small set screw on the plastic piece where B joins C. Loosen the screws and slide B up. See if that helps tighten the top and give you some headroom. Be very careful not to overtighten that screw -- the plastic will break.

You'll probably have to put it back the way it was when you stow the top.

Re: canvas help

Great so thats what that metal loop is for.
I will have to look for some straps to go there.

Now another thing is that when i have the canvas down, just raped around that support bars, i let the whole bar sit on the back seats. The problem is when i sit there, your back rests on the bar's which is not good when moving in the water. Also if i put it to the front then its on the windshield and my head is hitting it. So Whats the solution to that?

Also am i safe to just take A off? Has no purpose and i am re-doing the side pannels so i dont need to put that back there if i am not using it.
