Don't know where to put this so will start here.
My 26 ft sea ray has an OLLLDDD bimini with aluminum struts. The local canvas person said that I needed stainless steel framing to go to a one-half top with vinyl windows and wanted to charge roughly the cost of tuition for one semester at the Univ of Maryland.

My wife sews and I can do any metal bending.
Advice - instruction- help?

Aluminum is a good choice.Waaaay lighter than stainless steel. If you have a 10 ft. beam you may need something as strong as SS.If your wife can sew ,you may want to buy some sunbrella and use the old one for a template and duplicate it.A new setup is expensive.See if you can use the old railing.

Do a search here.I am pretty sure I remember seeing a few posts on it.If you have the old one it is pretty simple. You will need to take it apart and duplicate each piece and use waxed thread which is for outdoor applications.
