Carb Cleaners

Is it ok to use regular automotive carb cleaner on an outboard. I have heard that its not because there is nolube in it and it only hurts. I have also heard of people using WD-40 in their carbs. Is this ok? I want to be sure before I go and ruin the enngine.

Why would you want to use a car product when dedicated marine products are available at a fair cost?<br /><br />These forums have a lot of posts regading 'decarb'. Try the search.
