I am rebuilding a carb on my 2001 Merc 9.9 - 4 Stroke and need some help. I have read the posts in the FAQ section about carbs and it says to adjust the float but I cannot seem to find any set screws on my carb for adjustment. Could it be that mine is too small?

You adjust the float by bending the metal plate that is part of the float's hinge. There is no screw adjustment.

Re: Carb Help

OK Carb is rebuilt, engine is running. I now have fuel coming out of one of the overflows on the top when I run the engine. Any suggestions?

Re: Carb Help

IF engine is running rough, the float may either be stuck or the float needle valve could also be stuck or otherwise improperly installed. Check for binding/sticking.

Re: Carb Help

The engine is running fine other than the fact that gas is pouring out of the top of the carb..... I have tried hooking a hose up to the carb and blowing into is as suggested in the FAQ. With the float open I can blow freely. When I flip it upside down the float closes. I meet resistance but can still move air through. Hope this helps.
