I think I already know the answer to this, and expect a few snotty answers :D but on a Rochester 2jet carb is there a difference between the marine carb kit and the automotive?
I would assume the top gasket is different because of the way the automotive carb vents into the atmosphere but from what I remember of these rochester carbs on the race track it looks similar.
Also if there is a difference where is the best place anyone has found to purchase the kit?

I cleaned my float bowl and float valve, not it runs great! Good smooth idle, good fast throttle response, good high rpm. I just have a gut feeling that I need to go ahead and kit the thing. The lower gasket and upper gasket look a bit damp. No leaks but I don't think I want to chance it. I hear gas+heat+spark+boat=bad combination!
Thanks and yes I deserve all the stuff I will probably get from this post. ;)

Re: Carb Kits

There are several different Rochester carbs.
Some were used in boats & some were not. So long as you have a marine carb, just for safety sake... use a marine kit.
NAPA has kits just for marine carbs. I used to use them alot & had great results.

Re: Carb Kits

Bought one at NAPA for about $35.00 and also bought one at a local marina for $40.00
(without the float kit)

Re: Carb Kits

Oops, my bad....of course it has to be a marine carb kit since it is a marine carb!
$19.00 at Napa, $29.97 at the marine dealer.

I'm not worried about the price, The big problem is the closest Napa or Marine dealer to me is 50 miles one way. I work nights and am a stay at home dad during the day so my time is extremely limited...The local parts store doesn't carry any marine parts, the only reason I was wondering.

Oh well, worth the trip.
Thanks anyway for the replies.

Re: Carb Kits

try napa on line, they send it overnite by mail, but i prefer a iboat dealer, less mistakes on the item, i am familar with napa's return proceedure too.
