carb question

I have trouble starting my 92 force 70 and was wondering if the butterfly in the carb is shut does that mean that the ele choke is not working. thanks

Welcome ti iboats Matt.

The butterfly is meant to be closed. The choke has a solenoid that takes fuel from the carby bowel and uses the back pressure from the motor to inject fuel into the intake manifold.

You should hear the solenoid click when you push the key in to work the choke. The value on the solenoid only opens when it gets power.

Could be other reasons it is difficult to start but this one is easy to check. Particularly if it is only difficult to start when it is cold.
