I am having some issues with the 40 HP 1993 Force. It would not idle - dies imidiatelly, would not run - after maybe 30 sec it dies down. Has a hard time starting, have to crank it really hard.
So i decided to clean the carb. I took it apart and it appears to be extremely clean inside. So there was nothing to clean.
Then I looked at the idle tube and here is what i noticed. Manual says that it must touch on the bottom side of the main nozzle or the motor will run extemely lean. But on my motor idle tube extends below main nozzle (see picture) I would say it is 1/8-3/16 of the inch pass the bottom of the nozzle.
It does not say in the manual how much should it be inside of the nozzle (or even should it be?). Also I am not sure what to do, is that idle tube too long? Should I remove and cut it? how much should it be inside of the nozzle?
I am aslo afraid of damaging the tube when i will be punching it out.
Thanks for the opinions....
PS. What should be the orientation of the little hole in the middle of the idle tube? Currently it is facing side of the carb. Is that right?
