Carburetor float 1974, 6hp

Just rebuilt the carb on my 1974, 6hp johnson and thought I'd share a picture of what was left of the original float.

I had one that looked like that when I rebuilt the carb in my cd-12. I took it to the shop to order a new one, and the elderly gentleman said "Ain't nuttin' wrong wit dat float, put it back in". I did and it runs great, according to him, if it floats its good no matter what it looks like.

yeah, it probably would work okay, but i had another float that didn't look like it was dipped in acetone so i decided to replace it.
