hello hello. so im rebuilding my 3 carbs on my 1978 mercury 900 6 cyl wmk carbs and i bought sierra carb kit 18-7021 which is basically gaskets and the inlet needle and seat. (1) should i replace the float or get any other companion kit because of ethanol fuels and the fact its old.(2) the spring on the float appears to be somewhat flush to the top of the float. whats the proper distance the spring should be from the top of the float and how do you adjust it? by just pulling and stretching? (3) just spray carb cleaner and air or soak overnight? any other advice on these beasts would be appreciated. thanks once again for helping me from this tremendous forum

As long as you already have the carbs apart and plan on rebuilding/adjusting, I'd get the floats also. I just pull the little spring to adjust. Check out the attached float adjustment procedure. I just spray 15 min and air ( no overnight)
