Re: Carnival Cruise does it again

It seems that as soon as these ships have any kind of power problems, the toilets start overflowing.

If it weren't for the publicity the Triumph received, none of these other events would be news worthy. If mechanical issues weren't to be expected occasionally, there would not be Mechanics.

Why won't they let people off the ship?

Re: Carnival Cruise does it again

Found it interesting when I read that 1 toilet overflowed ... ONE. Not sure if that is a true and reliable report, but the first report read there was one person complaining of the smell and 2 others saying they didn't see or smell anything ...

I am thinking the media is overplaying this because of the first incident. From the looks of it, Carnival assessed the problem and then chartered a plane to take the people home. Refunded 3 days of cruise, and gave them a 50% reduction on their next cruise, effectively saying here is a refund unless you want to take another cruise with us, then it is free. Seems like Carnival is trying.

That said, I am also thinking that they have gotten so big and so booked, that they don't want to take the ships out of service for the necessary upgrades that are needed. These ships are getting older and more things need to be replaced to avoid downtime. But that takes them out of service for weeks or months at a time, something Carnival doesn't like to do because of the bottom line. I am thinking that maybe they need to rethink the whole maintenance, upgrade thing. Again, this is an unprofessional opinion, and this opinion and a $5 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks! (I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night.)

They have two tubs in the news right now: Legend and Dream. Neither sounds all that serious, but at the moment I think Carnival could take a battering over anchor chains not being painted the same color.

Their 2013 financials are gonna' be interesting lookin'.

Yup, the Triumph off line, and Dream off line for a bit, that has to be a dent in the revenue stream . . . .
