What is everyone doing to seal their carry-on A/C to the hatch when they don't have a hood, or the hood is beyond repair? I have a hard time paying $259 for a replacement from West Marine.

Nobody has one of these that they have created some sort of a seal to the hatch?

Check eBay and Craigslist for a better deal. Get the proper replacement part and do it right.

I have been watching, but No luck so far. I want to do it right, but if I'm only going to use this a few times a year, I have a hard time spending that amount for a simple cover/Hood. Now if I was spending several weekend in it, I definitely would.

Then I would get the proper hood, seal it right and start spending more weekends on the boat. I could think of a lot worse things to spend my money on and not have as good as a time...

While I completely agree, we spend as much time as we can on the boat now, but we don't get to spend the night often. I do plan to more, but it will likely only be a handful of times through the summer months.

Most of the units I've seen just use a fairly simple looking canvas deflector. Is it possible to just build a framework out of small diameter PVC pipe, cover it with bulk canvas, and then stitch or velcro the seams? Would make it easy to disassemble for storage.

I'm looking to buy an entire stand alone a/c unit for $300.00 - 400.00 new and stand it in the middle of the floor.

You'll still need to pipe the hot condenser air out of the cabin.
