Last Saturday morning we went out for Walleye using live minnows on wire hooks in a reservoir lake. We caught and released many fish in one of which I left a red Tru-turn aberdeen hook because it was hooked deep. Another fish broke a knot and kept my partner's orange Gamakatsu hook. I was a little concerned about the deep hooked fish.

In the evening we returned to the same place and caught and released more Walleye, they were very active. Around an hour before sunset I pulled up a fish that had something orange on it's lip. The Gamakatsu hook with no knot! What are the chances? My pard got his hook back and the fish got returned. The very next fish I caught, no kidding, had a red Tru-turn aberdeen in it's throat. I couldn't believe it. I felt better knowing it was OK so far with the hook left in and was feeding again. I'm sure I'll never be able to repeat that!

Al in all we boated and released around 30 Walleye that day. Most in the 16-19" range.
