Are the 113-3110 and 113-2811 power packs compatible other then having different plug configurations.

BK....where did ya' get those numbers? They sound like Rapair part numbers. Would be nice to know what kind of engine we are talking here also.

Re: cd4 power packs

Jim they are some after market brand but also printed on the side of the packs I have. One motor is Evinrude 1986 110 HP. The other is 115 HP Johnson I believe to be 1985. The packs look very similar but the plug connections are different. I cut the pins out of the rubber ends and connected them by color and was able to get spark. I did not want to spend $80+ for a new part if what I have will work.

Re: cd4 power packs

Morning BK....

In 85', the power pack used was PN 582811. This was the only pack used.

In 86', the above power pack was used only on models 110TLCDF. All othe models for 86' used pack PN 583110.

Ain't sure why as I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me. Probably a wiring change. I'll take a look when I get to the shop and let ya' know. Maybe one of the other guys can fill in the question before that.

Well motor fired over with powerpack swap. Concerned about linkage binding that connects timing advance to carbs. Should this go back to stop when throttle is pushed back to idle? I am thinking of putting a spring on it.

Hey BK....dang if I could cifer out the change in PP's. Tell ya' what ya' need to do. Get a manual for the engine and follow the sync and link section. This will tell ya' how to set the thing up with no guess work. OEM manuals are preferred and are still available from Johnny/Rude dealers. If yer goin' ta' keep the engine, the manual will pay for itself over time.

I'm still hopin' one of the other guys will take pity on us and tell us the difference PP's. :D

And yes....the timing should go back to the stop at idle. If it don't, the set up is possibly wrong or the control cables are not set up correctly. Ya' really need to get the manual.
