CDI question

This weekend I fogged my motor by removing all the spark plugs and spraying a liberal amount of Seafoam into each cylinder then replaced the plugs. I was told to crank the motor to work it in. Mindlessly I did with the key. The bad news is I didn't ground the plug wires. I only cranked for a few seconds, but in that short time what damage was done? What tests can I do?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: CDI question

I doubt that you did any damage. Test by starting the motor (with plugs in and plug wires connected) and see if it idles OK, or checking the spark with a spark tester.

Re: CDI question

Don't worry. It usually takes a lot to do damage. While cranking MAY damage a CD box it is not a lead pipe cinch, and running with a plug not grounded is more likely to do it.

If it really bothers you, have someone else use the key while you check individual plugs for spark.

Re: CDI question

Just error on the side of caution I got a spark tester at Harbor Frieght for under five dollars.

Re: CDI question

Well, I did a spark test on all five cylinders and it was a complete success. Just make sure you don't touch the tester while cracking. I got a nice little jolt in my palm. Other than that all is well. Thank you.
