I'm no expert - heck, I haven't even had my first boat on the water yet - but based in part on the good advice I received here, I ended up buying a dual console (Century 1850). It seemed to be the perfect combo of recreation and center console "toughness" that I was looking for. Unlike you though, frshwater and in-shore fishing duty was a requirement. I don't know much about it's slim water limitations yet.
There are a lot of boats out there - I was so confused for awhile - just keep asking questions and learning.
