Received my manual after the fact of changing the filter and now having hard tie getting it to start. Did nothing else but t=change this filer. The manual says to drain all air from the fuel lines prior to changing the filter but does not say how to do this. Wondering whether or not I could have an air pocket in the line now preventing the fuel flow to the carb. The boat is a 1993 SeaRay 180 Bowrider with a mercruiser 4.3l Alpha engine serial # 0F003200, any help or ideas is appreciated.

If everything worked fine before the filter change then you probably have an air pocket in the line and yes they can take awhile to draw thru. My solution for this was to put a squeeze ball from an OB fuel line on the line between tank and fuel pump. Have mine in a very convenient place so it has easy access and easy to watch for any sign of leakage. In the spring after all the fuel has evaporated from the line over the winter it makes that initial start much easier especially on the battery and starter. I have a very long fuel line on my boat and this trick works quite well.

One other thing, I did fill the filter with fuel before putting it back on. Pretty sure it's an air pocket issue.

Just keep cranking, it'll go eventually. You can give it a shot of starting fluid to get it running and pump it up faster. There's nothing else you can do.

All the ideas helped. Just kept cranking and must have purged the line because it starts now. Thanks.

I thought I was going to be posting the same thing earlier, but I filled the new one with fuel and it popped right off.
