changing from tiller to controls

i am set up for a 1963 28 hp evinrude with controls. looking to upgrade to a later model johnson or evinrude. i can find alot of what i think look like good motors mid to late 80s but all in my price range have tiller handles. just asking whats involved in the change. looking at 30 or 35 hp mid to late 80s. the 28 was a good motor but its getting tired i got my moneys worth.
