First time user.

I need to change the impellar on my 87(?)
120hp outbaoard. What other seals/gaskets should I replace while doing so. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to iboats, smatch.

If your motor is a 120hp, then it is 1990 or newer.

If your water pump housing is pitted or corroded, get the water pump kit and change it out. Otherwise, just the impeller should be sufficient.

A Mercury dealer or Mercruiserparts (dot) com is the place to get the kit, if needed.

Other things to change? :
Use new gaskets on the fill and vent plugs in the lower unit when you change the gearlube.

Do you have a model and/or serial number?
They are found on the id plate on the transom mounting bracket.

Thanks, Roscoe.

I'm working on getting the model number off the transom. The boat's wrapped up for the winter. I wrote the post off the top of my head. The engine is actually a 125 HP. Once I get the numbers I'll send them over.
Thanks again.

While you have the lower unit down, check the shift rod seal. This takes a lot of abuse from the shifting motion and can be a source of water leakage into the lower unit. If the seal is good, the rod will move by hand snugly but smoothly.
If it feels rough, loose, or really tight, replace it.
