changing l/u lubricant on a 1989 us marine force

ok,i know im a newbie and first time boatowner.i got the pelican/predator on a trade for a cheap quad and a shotgun.anyways,ive already run the engine in a 55 gal drum filled to the top halfway up the l/u.it starts perfect,shifts great,aand shot water 9 feet out of the barrel when i opened the throttle up.still i read on here its a good idea to change the oil in the l/u every year.heres the rub.i found the fill and vent caps(fill on the bottom and vent on top).now if im correct i take both plugs out to drain the oil.but with the fill plug on the bottom how in the heck do you refill it?turn it upside down?thanks for your time.i figured i had better ask the pros.by the by this motor is so clean that you could eat off it inside or out and i just want to do right by it.by the way the model number is 152y9a.what does the y stand for?

sorry i forgot to include the specs on the motor...it is a 15hp/2stroke.im not sure which plant it came from but i know its an 89.

Two ways. Go to walmart and buy a lower unit oil pump for 10 bucks. This will attach to the lower unit and to a standard size quart oil container. This is the easiest approach. The second way is to find tubes of lower unit oil. These tubes come with a tip similar to caulk gun cartridges. You trim off the tip and cram it in the lower (drain) hole and keep filling while holding firm pressure till it starts coming out the top (vent) hole. Put the vent plug back in and tighten it then remove the pump or the nozzle from the lower unit oil container and put the drain plug back in. You will loose a couple of tablespoons when you remove the pump or nozzle. Dont worry about it.
