Have an '88 3.0 inline 4 mercruiser, with an alpha drive. I need to change the Power trim Oil. What is the best way to completly drain the system and start from fresh and what type of oil does it take? I was told to just suck it out of the resevoir with a syphon, which I can do but there will still be oil in the pump, lines etc...

Probably makes sense to do the syphon thing at the resevoir, and keep adding fluid and syphoning until the oil is the color you want.

DHP

Thanks, I would assume that I can just drain it, fill it and raise and lower a few times to cycle the fluid, then repeat. What tpe of fluid, is there synthetic available for them?
