Hey guys. I have an older 12' grumman boat that has the twist or locking type drain plug. The drain hole has about a 1/4" lip on both the inside and out side. I was wondering If anyone can tell me if I can buy a kit i can buy to convert the existing drain into a a Garboard drain. I was hoping that someone would sell something to fit in that drain so I didn't have to drill holes into my boat I have included a picture of the outside of the boat. Thanks for the help.

Never seen an adapter like that myself. But why? It's so easy to access now why change it?

Yea I know it's easy to change and all. Why I wanted to change it is because I wanted to mount an underwater led green light that has 1/2 inch threads. the light is made to screw in place of the threaded plug.

Capture.PNG Mabye I can just install a garboard drain somewhere else on the back. This boat has thin aluminum What would be the best garboard drain for this?

Ah,,I see. I'd add a second one as jas stated. That way no messing around to drain any water later on. Even on thin alum, with ss hardware and sealer it'll be ok. You could even add a small aluminum plate behind it for added support.

I didn't add the light, just the garboard drain. I didn't use a backing plate as the aluminum turned out to be pretty stiff, but I did use washers as large as possible to spread the load. I used stainless steel nylock nuts, too.
