Re: Charging dual batteries
I have a yamaha dual battery setup with a switch and a bep isolator. It charges my starting battery first ; then my deep cycle for accessories and trolling motor. I plan to add a charger to plug in between weekends. Can I use a single charger and let the bep do it's thing ; or should I buy a dual charger?
Spend the money and get a dual charger. Two reasons:
1. It take time to charge batteries correctly, if you do it with the ACR it will take a really long time.
2. Dual chargers will monitor the batteries and slow the charging when finished, with your setup, you will put a lot of charge to your first battery and then start to charge your second.
Yes you could let your ACR do its work, but it is better if you are running on A/C to just dual charge.
