Re: Chase Race 9 - Pheonix

NASCAR has spoken:

Gordon fined $100k, docked 25 points and probation until 12/31. Also HMS docked 25 owner points and J.G.'s crew chief on probation 'til the end of the year.

Bowyer crew chief Brian Pattie was fined $25K and placed on probation through the end of the year. MWR issued an apology for the actions of the crew members in regards to the fight.

And finally, Keselowski was fined $25K and put on probation for tweeting during the red flag stoppage.

No word on the Bowyer crewman that went after Gordon after climbing out of the 24.

Re: Chase Race 9 - Pheonix

I've been a Jeff Gordon fan forever, he shouldn't be allowed to run at Homestead, that was uncalled for. I'm also not a Keselowski fan, and his comments are as bad as the wreck. The Texas race at the end was fine, bumping and banging (Not wrecking) is normal and he did a fine job trying to get P1, but his comments at Phoenix should have been kept to himself. He also has a golden horseshoe installed internally. He has missed a lot of wrecks lately by just plane ole luck.
Boyer I like too, but he has been asking for trouble for a long time with Jeff, just happened to come to a head in this race. To bad it had to happen the way it did.

NASCAR, on the other hand should be called for not calling a yellow after Jeff hit the wall and parts were falling off the car. The call it for a piece of foam up out of the groove.
What about Danica setting sideways in the track and no yellow.
Things might have turned out a lot different if they called yellows consistantly.

I too am a Gordon fan and I agree with you Don. No driver should intentionally wreck another and not be suspended for at least the next race, NASCAR does have a lot to answer for. I saw Keselowski throw some foam out the window during an earlier race and nothing happened. Yet cautions come out for "debris on the track" for what seem like ploys to tighten the field rather than safety. And when cars (JG and DP) are shedding parts and no yellow. Go figure.

Those penalties are a joke. Not sure if Hendrick losing 25 owners points affect him or not. Don't know the owner points standings. $25k for Brad tweeting under a red flag. He's been doing that for how long? Now they decide to fine him? Since Clint is free and clear, look out Homestead......

Too bad NASCAR can't be fined for being stupid with the lack of yellows..........

I would bet his first venture into tweeting under red is what caused the rule to be written to begin with. I also suspect he had heard of that rule, and ignored it. Imagine if he lost 20 points for doing that. That would sure make things different wouldn't it ;)

actually no. theres a rule against phones recording devices in cars. he got warned at daytona.

from the rules:
drivers will not be permitted to carry onboard computers, automated electronic recording devices, electronically actuated devices, power distribution modules, power conditioners, micro-processors, recording devices, electronic digital memory chips, traction control devices and digital readout gauges. Keselowski used his smartphone to tweet updates during a 15-minute red flag that followed the crash involving Bowyer and Gordon.

as far as gordon. ya a little extreme. but he and jimmie were going for a win at martinsville not long ago and boyer crashed them both. gordons human. he has emotions. and they got the best of him. and this is coming from a NON gordon fan lol. i was a jarrett fan throught the jeff gordon days lol. so he was not my favorite driver. like in 97 when jarrett won 7 races and beat all sorts of records and jeff won 10 and beat him by 14 points:mad:

anyway. made for an intresting race. and there should have been a caution thrown as soon as the #10 spun.
