I have a problem with my 140 hp 85 Evinrude Engine, when its starts in idle it dies. I think that the problem should be my VRO. I would like to replace my VRO with a non-VRO part.

Is there any non-VRO gas pump for my engine? What part number it is?

What ratio for my premix should i use?

Is there any cheaper solution than buying a new VRO?

Re: Cheaper Solution for my VRO problem?

chiques,If your engine operates at speeds above idle and the only problem you are having is that the engine dies at idle, your problem is not the VRO pump.It is likely due to fouled carburetors, particularly gummy restrictions in the idle porting.

If you want to use your VRO pump as a conventional 50:1 pumper ,all you need to do is cap off the oil inlet to the pump and disconnect the two wires from the remote oil tank level alarm.

Post back and inform us as to whether the engine operates at high speed and if the idle issue is your only problem.

Re: Cheaper Solution for my VRO problem?

I had a problem some years ago with the VRO system. I just add oil to my gas and haven't had any trouble since.
