I'm in New Jersey due to my work (i'm an Air Force Msgt.) and i have the boat here with me. I can deliver it to your shipping address (i will pay for the shipping and insurance fees) and i will agree to let you test and inspect it for 5 days just to be sure. In this 5 days you will test the conditions of the boat . If something won't be like you expected to be you can return it without any expense. It will come with all the paper work. The payment will be made after you will test and inspect the boat.

The deal will go through eBay motors and Square Trade. In this way both of us will have the required assurance that the deal will take place well. A refund policy will be included.
If you agree with these terms please reply me with your full name, shipping address and phone# so that i can forward them to eBay. They will send you a complete list with instructions.
I`m waiting for your reply as soon as possible.

"1991 Bayliner Capri 2050"

1991 Bayliner Capri
5.0L Mercruiser I/O

I have to sell my baby due to some unforseen circumstances. I bought this boat 3 and 1/2 years ago in St Louis. He was the original owner. It had 86 original hrs on it and it showed. It only came with a cover. I proceded to add a tower, booming stereo including subwoofer, tower speakers, and amps. I also added a 105amp alternator and dual batteries to power the system. I added a battery switch because my son turned the key on and i didn't find it for over 3 days amounting to about 80 hrs being racked up on the hour meter. I then proceded to install an auto fill/empty ballast system, 1200 lbs at the flip of the switches. The sacks are Fly High and are made of the same puncture resistant material as the white water rafts. I also added a stainless steel High Five Prop to have GREAT hole shot and speed holding power. It is in great condition, only a few nicks. On the tower I added wakeboard racks, and a tower mirror. Last fall I added Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro- gps based. This is a speed control that holds the speed to .2 mph. Anyone can drive this boat. All of these things put together creates a very practical and versital wakeboard boat. I have spent over $6K on upgrades and that does not include the sweat equity. I finally get the boat the way I want it and I have to sell it. You will not touch a boat with this kind of wake for under 10K. Here's your chance.

The stereo system is amazing. I have a Boss Head Unit with CD and imput on the front. There are 2 sony speakers in the boat. I have installed a sony 10" subwoofer with a sony x-plode 900 watt amp to power it. You can see ripples in the water when it pounds. The tower speakers shown in the pictures and the amp are not included as they belong to a friend. I will be including a pair of Boss tower speakers and a pioneer 760 watt amp. This was the system I had before I put the current one in. You can still hear the music while wakeboarding.

The motor is a 5.0L Mercruiser with a Alpha One outdrive. It currently has about 450 true hrs. The meter reads higher because of the battery/ key issue. This is a bulletproof combination. They still use it in the new boats. I use about 4 gallons of gas an hour while fully loaded with ballast and 3-4 people. I rebuilt the carb 2 winters ago. The impeller was changed last spring. The upgraded alternator was changed this spring. I just changed both bellows 2 weeks ago. I also changed the lower unit oil at that time. One battery is 2 yrs old and the other about 3. As I said I installed a battery switch, a must. I have always changed the oil in the motor every 40-45 hrs. The outdrive oil, every fall. Everything is solid with this boat. Bayliner bought out Arriva in 1989 and continued this style of boat for 4 yrs. All the plywood is sealed with fiberglass so there is no rotting. I installed a remote oil filter and a hose on the bottom of the oil pan. Very easy servicing!

It comes with a single axel trailer that is in pretty good condition. The tires have lots of life left. I replaced the taillights with LED lights and also the 2 yellow marker lights. I have never been let down. I pull the boat 17 miles each way 2 times a week and I take it up north 150 miles each way 2 times a year.
This boat is going to make someone very happy. It has brought great joy to my family and friends and will be hard to let go.

Got to love those Nigerians. Now they are passing themselves off as Air Force Master Sergeants? I am offended now.

At least their English is improving.

Unfortunately, there is really nothing to be done. They aren't based in your country and the laws where they are don't seem to matter.

Have fun with him if it gives you giggles. I've done it but in the end nothing much can be done.

Even though not much can be done if the scammer is offshore, you can still take up as much of his time and effort as you can maybe sparing someone else the encounter.
I myself get a kick out of leading on scammers on Craigslist, a few have even mailed me a few really nice fake money orders. Some even spelled most of the words right on the fake payment.

Re: Check out this scammer, don't fall for this!

send all the info to spoof@ebay.com/

That's funny! Sure glad you know what you're dealing with. No one wants to fiddle with that kind of scam. I have fist full of bogus cashier' checks from Nigerians on a motorcycle I had for sale that I strung along like that. Here is one for you if you want to continue playing him; ask him to secure the deal by sending you a cashier's check for the amount of the boat to hold it for you, made for an additional amount of course which is for him when it is cashed. They are such bozos and so obvious. Early in the 80's, as I recall, folks fell for their scams and the legacy lives on over there. I still get them in my email and, on occasion, simply forward the email to the FBI and cc; the scammer. Those are usually the "wealthy dead uncle with no known family". Have fun!

There are many of those scams on trader.ca, especially in cars and trucks.

I wonder what their close ratio is on these scams. Where they actually walk away with cash in hand.

I know of at least one. A boat I was looking at turned out to be a scam, almost identical to the OP including the fake ebay site. Strung him along for a bit asking for the trailer and hull vin for insurance purposes and finally, after a bad day at work, let fly at him. While it made me feel good it did nothing to stop him.

Posted the story somewhere other than here and someone read about it who had sent the guy money for the boat. He was trying (with the police) to recover it but was SOL. Somewhere in the $5K range.

Playing along is fine if you think it's fun, but it is not going to slow them down one bit. The time they take to reply to you is minimal.

Honestly, the best thing is to keep reminding people that these scams are out there and working. This thread is part of that.

My last response to the guy was essentially "you're a bad person"....I suspect his ad was somebody elses, too well worded and reasonably put to be done by the guy that tried to scam me....

"1973 Mako 20' Center Console with T-Top"

You are looking at a 1973 Mako center console boat with a t-top, hull in excellent condition. No soft spots on floor. Boat has a 2005 Johnson Bombardier 150 hp engine with only 107 hours and runs great. Boat has been reconditioned with new wiring throughout, new seats, new paint and new floor gelcoat and reinforced for T-top. Teak wood has been refinished. Two new batteries, Garmin GPS, VHS radio, compass and plenty of rod holders throughout, live well and lots of storage. This does include a tandem axle galvanized trailer. Great fishing or cruising boat.

Re: Check out this scammer, don't fall for this!

Usually, the scammer simply copies and pastes an add written by someone else. This add appears to be by someone who really knows boats, inside and out. Usually scammers have no clue about what they are trying to "sell" and when they write the adds it is usually blatently obvious. 99.9% of scammers ARE based out of Nigeria and not even interpol can touch them there. I have done a lot of research, having been personally affected myself by a scammer, and have a good understanding of how they operate, who they go for etc... Just like what was already said; don't wast too much time stringing him/her along...time has no meaning to them. Because while you are stringing them along, hundreds of others are falling for this very boat add and he/she is getting paid either way

Re: Check out this scammer, don't fall for this!

Just this year I found an '01 Sea Ray 215 Express Cruiser for $4500 an hour away from my house. I figured it out when "she" refused to let me drive an hour with cash in hand to pick up the boat, insisting it was already shrink wrapped at the shipping company, and I would have to send a money order from Tampa, to California, and it would be forwarded to her in Orlando.

Heck, I've won the Nigerian lotto so many times I'm almost a trillionaire, I got so many dead millionaire uncles we could all be millionaires. I keep winning a Pepsi lottery out of the UK now too, man, I got some good luck I guess.

They're getting bold now, they sent my stepfather a check in the mail, claiming he won $3200 on an internet gambling site, to cash the check and yada yada. Well, the funny part about that is he has never in his life so much as turned a computer on, so how could he end up in an internet gambling site?

I wish I could get physical addresses from IP addresses, maybe one night on a drinking binge I may have to go pay a visit to these courteous individuals. . .

I replied to one last night, 2007 Chris Craft Launch 22, nice picture BUT the registration numbers were missing and being in Phoenix, the heaters in the garage looked a little out of place...but at $17,000 it was too good to pass up! I'm patiently waiting for it to be shipped to me! She's going to be a beauty!
