... 540 assault rifles, .50-caliber rifles, 165 grenades, 500,000 rounds of ammunition & 14 sticks of TNT were found at a house in the city of Reynosa, Mexico, just accross the boarder from McAllen, Texas.

I wonder what they had in mind to do with them?

I think is was getting ready for export to the drug dealers up north. Haven't heard of them using grenades, but it is well known that they have better weaponry that the local law enforcement.

Have a great day,

Rob.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were more in other places. I wonder if there are stockpiles like that here in the US? Think WACO could have been one,,,,,maybe?

Hammerite? Maybe it's one of those prison break guns that they make in arts and crafts!

I think you are right about the drug connection, but from what I have read, you may have the direction wrong. Mexican drug cartels are very fond of heavy duty weaponry for use against rivals and the police. They are especially fond of the 50 calibre sniper rifles.

Mabe the owners of all of that "hardware" are members of NAFTA???

There has been a lot of rival cartel killings lately in northern Mexico, in the Nogales, Sonora, Mx. area. This has included the killing of a number of Mexican police. Fully automatic weapons and hand grenade's have been in play along with the use of hand guns.

The gold & silver-plated engraved gun belonged to Jaime Gonzalez, a leader of the armed wing of the Gulf drug cartel. He is a founding member of the drug gang's feared execution squad known as the Zetas. He was also arrested in the raid.

They also uncovered 400 pistols, and a rocket launcher, along with a healthy sum of cash.

Security forces consisting of military troops and federal police, burst in on Gonzalez in a house and nabbed him without firing a shot.

A group, from the cartel tried to free him from police custody near the Reynosa airport.

Police fought off the attackers and transferred Gonzalez to the Mexican capital.

P.S. Please all, no personal Politics.

It is in no way connected to NAFTA, and we all know that. This is a international problem of organized crime, and the drug smuggling that finances it.

From what I have heard from a friend who lives and works on a sailboat in the Caribbean, it is making their lives, and that of their friends there rather jumpy. Pirates connected to these gangs are constantly on the lookout for nice boats, what they can't buy, they take.

I read later it was the largest single haul of weapons ever in Mexico.

It has gotten really bad. It was over the heads of the local police, so they have sent the military in to help lately.

Re: Check out what the Mexican Army just found ...

I saw a story on the evening news last night...
evidently Mexican drug dealers went into a Southern Arizona town to do some business and the do-do hit the fan.
They had hand grenades which are evidently popular weapons with them.
The pictures on the news looked like the same arsenal...tons of stuff.
