Hi All I own a 2008 Crownline 21 foot boat with a 5.0 L MPI Mercruiser Alhfa 1 Gen 2 outdrive.Serial number is OW678372.

My question is the function of the check valve that resides after the steering cooler but before the cool fuel module.
I would like to replace or mount a clear hose in the area for quick impellor performance monitoring since my boat is RWC.
Also ayone with tips on flushing the myriad of hoses in this single point drain system would be delightful.
Bought boat used and there seems to be sand everywhere, block, manifolds, drain lines ,etc.
Like to strangle the designer of this system.
Of course I'm having overheating problems with all of these issues.
Trying to make the boat user friendly for use and repair. Thanks all in advance !

It's to stop the cooling system from draining out when you pull the boat out of the water. A block full of water will corrode slower than one that's just wet (all to do with a lack of available oxygen)..

The MPI ECU also monitors incoming water pressure. If the pressure drops, the alarm goes off and the engine speed is restricted.

All I can suggest is to disconnect the two small hoses from the side of the block, the 16,000 hoses from the manifolds, elbows and thermostat housing and try and run some water through them. Don't forget to give the ports in the side of the block a good poke with a piece of wire or small screwdriver. That clog up really easily.

Some POs shouldn't be allowed to own a boat
