how can you tell if your flotation foam is water logged? I have a 1979 24 foot Grady White, and if all that foam is wet it would weigh a lot. the boat has twin yamaha 130's. it will not plane with one engine even with the trim tabs. is this normal?

You may have it over propped, what rpm are you turning at wot?

6000 rpm wot, that is what yamaha recomends. it will reach about 40 mph at wot. I just thought you should get it to plane with one motor and trim tabs, maybe its just to heavy. it is a walkaround with a cuddy cabin.

gator - I seriously doubt that a single 130 has enough oomph to get a 24' Grady up no matter what you do with props or tabs. That is a heavy boat. I have a 23' Wellcraft CC with twin 110 hp SeaDrives and I can't get up on one.
