I got a 1988 Lowe 28 ft pontoon boat and it was owned by my boss before I got it and they had it docked on the lake and then they pulled it out about 2 years ago and parked it and I was wanting to know if I need to get the pontoons checked to make sure they don't leek or what I should do. Thayer are the u shaped logs and when I got it home I pulled the plugs out on it and water did come out so does that mean I have a leek or is that common because I don't want to take it to the lake and it start to sink any advice is welcome

Ya, you have a leak, gallons is alot and most U tubes are foam filled so you wnat ot get this fixxed before the foam waterlogs as there is no way to fix that.

Get a small amount of air in the tubes(3-5 psi) and spray it with soapy water everywhere, mark the leaks and find a welder to fix them.
