1970 Johnson 115hp
---------------------------------
I am just about ready to go back out on the water after fixing my motor. One thing I did was replace the entire water pump and impeller. I know that I need to make sure water spray comes out the rear exhaust holes.

Will I be able to look back and see this while I'm operating the boat, or do I need someone behind the boat? What is a good amount of spray and at what mph/rpm? Am I correct in thinking that there will be no spray with the muffs on?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

But there'll be more if it's in the water. Should be a healthy flow coming from the prop hub. That's how I tell when they're on muffs. You probably won't be able to see it when you're driving the boat, but a waterskier would.

Uh Oh! I fired it up for the first time the other day with the muffs on and at idle. There wasn't any water coming from the Prop or Exhaust Holes

Are the water tubes not lined up? I had a strong stream coming out the little pee holes. #@%!, I hope I didn't fry out my new impeller!

Try raising the motor up and putting a garbage can or some time of large drum under it then let it back down, fill it with water. Try it again but keep the garden hose running because some water will splash out. You should not be able to fry your new impeller in a short start-up.
Good Luck
