Anyone else see this chevy ad on iboats that is on the bottom of the screen when you sometimes enter the forums? Every so often it likes to wig out on me on my normal browser. It looks like it is stretched in the middle of the screen, usually a refresh helps. Also I noticed that it doesn't like my iphone's browser all that much either.

At best it is an invasive critter. It even wants to un-mute my speakers!

Tanner from iboats.com here. I accidentally clicked on it and next thing I knew, a new truck was in my driveway and the bills started coming in ;) Ok, jk. So I totally agree this add can be frustrating at times. Whenever I see it I just close it out and seems to solve the problem. I'm not sure of how to handle the issue on the mobile browser though, I will try to look into that. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you are running Firefox install the no script add on. It will completely block the add unless you tell it to allow scripts for this page. We use this add on at work and I never get that ad at work.

Also on my new phone (HTC Thunderbolt) the ad floats in the middle of the screen and is so wide that I can not see the x to close it and can't side scroll to get to the x. VERY annoying.

Just spoke w/management here at iboats.com and they will be looking into fixing the mobile issue with this ad. Trying to find a way to either enable it to close or have it not show up on the mobile version. Just a heads up :)

I am very grateful for you guys looking into this. Also note that some mobile browsers do not support Flash (iphones). From a different aspect I know the Chevy ad best now, so I guess it worked. Though I am not buying a Chevy any time soon. I love my Acura MDX, then again most people would buy a Ford or a Chevy pickup to tow a boat.

Firefox and adblock here, It kills the ad right away. Before I installed adblock it would lockup the screen.

Tanner,

Just a friendly poke regarding this issue. It really makes it hard to use iboats from my phone. I'd PM you about this but I this is a global problem and not specific to me. I'm sure others are interested in what's going on.

Thanks in Ad-vance.

+2 Firefox and adblock, I don't see any ad's on any forums I go on. :)

I was referring specifically to the issues smart phones have with the ad. On my phone the ad is so wide that I can not click the x to remove it, and it blocks 1/3 of the screen. There is a version of firefox for mobile, but it is not rated very well. Maybe that would be a solution from my end.

I experienced the ad problem on my droid X too... the trick I have discovered, is to turn the phone to horizontal state and then try to zoom out or pan to the right (towards the X) and nail it... sometimes it doesn't work, but most of the time I can get to the X. If I can do it, it will disappear.

I have had it pop up in the middle of the window too. overly irritating. mobile boaters must have a lot of patience.

I have the same problem with that ad in my blackberry torch and unlike some moderator mentioned, it is NOT a issue with the phone being misconfigured, the ad is not compatible with most mobile devices as you can see from the amount of people complaining here. I can handle the ad as long as I can close it.
