HELP!!
i have a 2001 150 yamaha vmax. if it sets for a week or so it is real hard to start. it seems to flood real easy. once it starts it will crank every time after even the next day. i have been told not to choke at all and have been to use choke untill it fires. nothing seems to work consistantly.
cliff

I have that mill in an ox66 efi. I have never had to choke it, even after sitting a couple weeks, but I suspect every motor could be a little different. Do you have carbs? Do you pump the bulb before trying to start?

yep at least 3 versions,VX,VZ and a V, all had Vmax on the cowl. all were different induction/ignition systems.without at least one of us knowing what you have no one can advise much.

ok
thats a carbed model.
it does not have prime start.
proper starting procedure is, pump primer bulb until its firm, advance warm up lever, turn key to on and push in, turn key to start while keeping it pushed in. motor should start and run at about 2000 RPM. bump choke in as nessasary while its warming up.
choke on EFI does nothing.
