need a choke for a 1974 evinrude the one i have got hot and swelled . is there any fix for it .

Sure, you can put a new one on it. You may have to update it to the single wire type. What is your model number?

The original solenoid part number has been discontinued: 386664. There are many US Bombardier dealers in the US that still have new factory stock on the original part. This dealer has 3 of them:

yes but finding one . there is a small engin shop that has some old stock on evinrude he might have one will check with hem

The single wire version was part number 581748, also discontinued. But consider one if you can find it. Besides, a factory service bulletin suggested rewiring the two stage ones to provide single stage operation, so no big deal..

There are a couple of 581748 on ebay right now..
