Ok just to show that I back up my words and if Christians were doing something wrong I would stand against it..........I catagoragly say these people are wrong and apparently must have a different Bible then me and I say NO,NO,NO, this is not the way.........Found this on yahoo news....<br /><br /><br />LAGOS, Nigeria - Christian mobs rampaged through a southern Nigerian city Tuesday, burning mosques and killing several people in an outbreak of anti-Muslim violence that followed deadly protests against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad over the weekend. <br /><br /> <br />Residents and witnesses in the southern, predominantly Christian city of Onitsha said several Muslims with origins in the north were beaten to death by mobs which also burned two mosques there.<br /><br />"The mosque at the main market has been burnt and I've counted at least six dead bodies on the streets," Izzy Uzor, an Onitsha resident and businessman, told The Associated Press by telephone. "The whole town is in a frenzy and people are running in all directions."<br /><br />The violence appeared to be in reprisal for anti-Christian violence Saturday in the mostly Muslim northern city of Maiduguri in which thousands of Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad attacked Christians and burned churches, killing at least 18 people.<br /><br />Another Onitsha resident, Isotonu Achor, said one badly beaten Muslim man ran into his office from the streets to escape the violence.<br /><br />"There is blood all over him and I'm scared they'll come for him here. If he doesn't get urgent treatment he will die," Achor said.<br /><br />Police and government officials were not immediately available for comment.<br /><br />Nigeria, Africa's most populous country of more than 130 million people, is roughly divided between a predominantly Muslim north and a mainly Christian south. Thousands of people have died in religious violence in Nigeria since 2000.<br /><br />Saturday's protest over the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad in Maiduguri marked the first violent demonstrations over the issue in Nigeria. Police say at least 18 people, most of them Christians, died, and 30 churches were burned down. The Christian Association of Nigeria said at least 50 people were killed in the violence.<br /><br />The cartoons, which first appeared in a Danish newspaper in September, have set off sometimes violent protests around the world. One caricature shows Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban with an ignited fuse.<br /><br />Islam widely holds that representations of Muhammad are banned for fear they could lead to idolatry.<br /><br />A Danish newspaper first printed the caricatures in September. Other newspapers, mostly in Europe, have reprinted the pictures, asserting their news value and the right to freedom of expression.

"An eye for an eye" or "turn the other cheek", they made a decision to not take it and strike back.

They might have already turned the other cheek and got slapped again. Decided it was eye for eye time.

Are you suggesting that the Bible offers us a choice?

It is wrong no matter who does it and for whatever reason. All of us should be aligned in condemning abhorrent behavior regardless of the perpetrator.<br /><br />Vigilant defense is different than vigilante justice ;)

Re: Christian rioters

How can you guys say that its wrong to to riot like these muslims are and then when the Christians do the same its ok........ITS WRONG PERIOD......no matter who does it.......AN EYE FOR EYE is old testament justice.....New Testament says turn the other cheek.....There is a difference between defending you and your family and attacking your enemies.....Jesus said to love your enemies but he did not say be a doormat for them. There is no double standard wrong is wrong no matter who does it.....There is a difference between protesting and violently rioting......The Christians who did this are no better then the extreemist muslims...........Doesnt this situation scare any of you????? If this becomes commen place we will probably all experience hardship, violence and so will our loved ones.......WWIII will not be fun.......

Re: Christian rioters

Not be confused with an eye for an eye. Self<br />defense is an inherent right. Just as the Islamic<br />religion promotes its right to resist and conquer.<br />It is self preservation in its primitive form.

It would appear to me that this was a response, not a reaction. In which case I'm with M&R on this one. They thought this out. They planned it.<br />They were wrong.

Re: Christian rioters

Even the Old Testament "eye for eye, tooth for tooth" was reaching for some kind of justice - not revenge. "You poke my eye, I poke yours." Not, "you poke my eye, I poke some other guy on the other side of the world."

I don't know who said it, but, "The Devil can quote scripture to his purpose." is as true as ever.<br /><br />Some of the worst crimes against persons in history were committed in the name of some interpretation of scripture or religious dogma.<br /><br />Neither Islam not Christianity have a monopoly on this, but they sure do have a big majority.

Re: Christian rioters

No religion teaches or condones killing and suffering as a way of life. Stories like this sadden me. I was always told as a child "One God with different names" Why can't people just respect each others views and keep violence out of it?

Re: Christian rioters

Well Fireship....It is my belief that evil/devil/satan (whatever you may call it) will take anything of God and twist it into something that is evil of the Devil/Satan every chance it gets....God must look upon this in saddness as the devil rejoices......

Re: Christian rioters

It's a shame that Christians have lowered themselves to Extremist Muslim actions & standards.....Does this make them Bible "Thumpers"?<br />It seems as though no religion can totally eradicate hypocrasy.....JK

Re: Christian rioters

One of the big arguements non-Christians have about those of us calling ourselves Christians as we talk about living like Jesus but we seldom display it.
