chrysler 100hp 1979 thermstat?

would anyone happen to know where the thermostat is located on a 1979 chrsyler 100hp outboard engine? Mine started right up and was running fine but not pumping water so anyone could inform me on where the thermostat is located on the engine that would be great thanks!:)

To add to that, we were winterizing & one of the things we check for is that water starts coming out of the exhaust port once the thermostat opens & that didn't happen and the engine had been running plenty long and usually starts spitting water with in the first minute or two. So the first thing we want to ck is the thermostat. It ran fine & pumped water as normal last time we ran it in September.

Chrysler and Force engines are notoriously difficult to prime on muffs.Unless you have really good pressure it will take a good bit of time for water to start spitting out the rear idle relief vents.

The thermostat is located inside the rectangular "box" at the top of the head. However, before you check it, it would be better to drop the lower unit and check the water pump impeller. If it has not been replaced recently, replace it as a matter of course.

If you go to the Chrysler/Force forum, you can search and find numerous posts on how to replace a water pump impeller.

I suspect that sooner or later, the moderators will move this post to that forum.
