clanking shifting into gear f/r

Hey guys got it all back together. Man that book is not real clear when it come to ajusting the shift cable. Any way when i shift it into gear i get a loud clanking sound. It happens when going in to forward or reverse gear.
I'm just doing this in my driveway. Is this happening because there is no load on it or did i not adjust the cable right. It did make this noise before. thx

If it`s an Alpha and you mean the instant you shift into gear, the answer is yes, it`s normal.just the clutch dogs engaging

yeah it's an alpha. thx. Well at least i know i can take it apart and put it back together now. All i have to do is save up $250 for all parts and tools and then i get to tear back into it.
