classic 50 fuel lines

I have this Mariner/ Mercury Classic 50 that actually appears to have been built by Yamaha based on a lot of the parts. Anyway, it is leaking gas all around the area of the carberators. I also have to attack a heating problem that is recurring. I thought I might just buy a kit with all new lines that were bent to fit that engine. I don't seem to be able to find something like this and when I look at the hoses individully they look like they would cost more than the engine. Is there somebody here that has experience with this?

The classic 50 should be a 4cyl and definitely not yamaha built. Give a serial#. The fuel lines can usually made from regular gas line just put easy bends and avoid kinks.

OB285168 Mariner 45HP The fuel line intake looks like Yamaha. The other MERCS I have dealt with have the twist lock. This one has the puch and click. My buddy has a Yamaha ouboard and the parts look mostly identical. I am havingthe same overheating problem I had 2 years ago. I blew sand out of the passageways under the exhaust cover and it has been fine until recently. I never have figured out how that foam seal on the water pump shaft is supposed to work. It looks like it ought to seal the waterpump housing to that shaft but there is just no way I have found .to make that happen. Does anybody have a mechanics trick or a youtube? Where that shaft fits in the housing makes no sense. It is an irregular surface on the housing. WHY?

That is a mercury built motor 1988 4 cyl 45 hp outboard motor. In 1988 or thereabouts mercury changed the motor fuel connector similar to Yamahas but won't interchange. Or somebody changed it .That motors original design began in the 50s doubt Yamaha was there for that. Give us pics of the water pump and housing

Take the cowling off start the motor with water going through the muffs, and find where the gas is leaking,and fix it.Do not smoke while doing this, any fuel hose will work,use hose clamps.

Over heating is just three things, the water pump,which is a rubber impeller on outboards change yearly, the T-stat, put it in a pan of cold water,slowly heat it up, what temp does it open, or a bad sensor and its not overheating, an IR thermometer is easy point it at the top of the head, what the temp?
