I have read and read, I just aquired a classic 50, I do not know the year, 4clyinder though. WOuld not run smooth so working on 2 strokes regulary I took carbs off and REALLY cleaned them, soaked them, blew the out with air dissaaembled completly, THERE CLEAN!!! put them back on and fired right up idles smooth top carb is 1 1/4 turn out bottom is 1 1/2 out runs great until about 3/4 throttle then fuel starts pouring out of little jet/overflow for float bowl on top carb. Im assuming the float is set wrong but I want to get some responses first from you guys! But concerned that it only happens at 3/4 and above throttle! yes motor was in 55gl drum with water and level so I am kind of stumped alittle bit! Like I said it runs perfect until 3/4 and above and goes way RICH from the fuel pouring out of the jet

Thanks for you help GUYS!
Rick

email tbrracer@yahoo.com

You either need a inlet needle or the float lever is wrong

Re: Classic 50 Fuel Spitting out of Carb on TOP

I checked the needle and seat when i had the carbs off but without the float attached just to make sure it sealed and it did so im thinking that the float level is off but what concerns me is why it does not act up until 3/4 throttle and up maybe the vibration or more of fuel pulse charge becuase of the higher rpms so the float just cant control it?

For the record is that all that jet/opening is for is overflow from the float bowl?

Thanks
Rick

The hole is a bowl vent and as RPM increases so does fuel pressure if the pump is right. Make sure the spring in the float is right it can cause problems in rough water at high speed
