Gentlemen,
Used to be she would go right in to forward as soon as I came out of neutral - now need to push control so far forward (to avoid the clattering) that the boat roars off at too much rpm.

It's a '97 Stingray 3.0LX w/ MCM A1G2. Doesn't do it when going to reverse. Is this just a shift cable adjustment? Do I just lube up the linkages? Or do my 18-year-old cables need replacing?

Any help greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance

You may be able to adjust it to where it works better, but it would be best to replace the one lower shift cable

Okay, thanks for feedback. Quick check on the parts here, uh so I need the C36 UFlex cable? What about the other (top) cable? Just need to measure for length?

Ayuh,... Ain't sure of the part numbers, but the Lower cable is the most likely problem, rather than the forward control cable,...

Agree, your top cable can increase a bit in play and you wouldn't know it, most time never needs changing.

Your lower shift cable is 865436A02
Found it at iboats only issue is it does not state what it is just a price
