I have a 24' pontoon boat that stays in fresh water. The pontoons are covered with barnacles, etc. and probably need some cleaning/repainting.

One person quoted me about $75 per foot to clean and repaint.

Any suggestions? What can I do to maintain the pontoons but not spend a fortune?

Thanx

Re: cleaning/repainting pontoons

Several questions come to mind.
A: What are the toons made of? Wood, Steel or Alum
B: Does this person need to show up with their own equipment to haul your boat out?
C: Where would they be doing this? Your place or their boat yard?
D: Is that $1800 for both toons or $3600? Big difference.
More info needed

Link

Rent or buy yourself a power washer and have at it. That price is crazy!! Paint them or coat them with this if you are down to bare aluminum:

web page
