what does the clipper on a 100 hp 1972 Johnson do? Can it be eliminated?

The clipper is supposed to protect the electronics in the CD igition system from over-voltage conditions. Sounds like a bit of a gamble to disconnect it, I'm not sure how common over-voltage is on these motors or how sensitive the ignition components are.

Tiger and Tim.....you can get rid of it if ya' need to. Didn't work worth a darn anywho.
