I am putting a 1:1 Velvet Drive behind a 5.7 Chevy with a closed cooling system. Should I install the clutch oil cooler in the sea water intake line or in the closed cooling system loop. My concern about installing it the sea water line is that it might run too cold in cold water whereas in the closed system loop it would maintain a more constant temperature.

You need it in the seawater side...

Your transmision is a hydraulic pump.
It must keep the fluid cool or the "antifoaming" agent gets burned out. Once you get air in the oil, you have no hydraulic power. Now your transmision is "jumping" out of gear... Even worse... it jumps back in... Now it's broken for certain.
