Has anyone ever tried to replace the hydraulic ram seals on one of these units? Mine is leaking oil from the bottom of the hydraulic unit around the ram. If I could afford it I would purchase a replacement unit, but not in the budget at this time.

I had one with damage to the ram where some retard before me used vice grips on it... I polished the ram with emery cloth and replaced the "seals" which are actually just o-rings, in less than an hour.... EASY job

Hey Smoke, reguarding those O rings for the PT 130; was that like an ACE hardware type or did you go to an automobile parts house? Also, there are about a dozen bolts in the bottom of the pump unit. Any surprises when they come out, like springs or check balls, etc?
Gonna try and tackle that this weekend so I can sell the little 16 footer. I need the room for the other boat.

The point of a forum is to record these discussions so people can search out answers to their problems in the future...... :)

I got my o-rings at my local hydraulic/pneumatic supply house (The Parker Store)

It has been a couple years since I did mine but I don't remember there being anything terribly complicated about it.... seems like maybe there was something to do with holding the shaft to remove and replace a nut to retain the piston????... If so I likely would have held the shaft by hand and used an impact on the nut.....

Re: CMC PT 130 Leaking seals

I took a trip to Champion Hi-tech here in Oklahoma City for O rings. Got all that I needed to renew this unit for a couple of bucks. I'll post part numbers later.

Problem arose while disassembling the power unit. Two check balls are held in place by the valve body. Mine fell out. Does any one have a picture of the location for these two check balls?

Reassembled and found that check balls are definately not in the correct positions. Trim up sounds good but no movement. Trim down and the pump is deadheading. Guess I will try the old hunt and peck method until I get it right.

I did receive a return call from Customer Service at CMC this morning. They are located right down the highway from me about 70 miles. They offered to sell me either a new actuator assembly for $338 or a used but tested actuator for $308. No tech help given even though I asked. Basically, there is no customer service unless you are buying something or you have a warranty claim.

Still hoping that someone might have information on the location of the checkballs.

Still hoping for some insight if anyone can provide checkball locations before I have to try the hit and miss routine.
