I have a 1989 Sea Ray with a 350 chevy that has an old style ignition system with points. I need to replace the coil wire. Is there any difference in marine vs. automotive for the coil or spark plug wires? Is this something I can purchase separately or do I need to get a whole new wire set? My spark plug wires are in great shape.

Re: Coil Wire

If you need a coil wire, replace the plug wires too. Napa can get the set you need. Most marine applications are not the same as automotive, the end terminal/angle combinations are different.

Re: Coil Wire

I believe the construction of marine rated wires are different than automotive ones. I bought a new wire set and purchased marine rated wires, which I believe have a stainless steel core. When in doubt, buy marine, that way you know it will be safe.

Have a great day,

Rob.
