If a coil is leaking is it "bad"? My coil on my 1990 7.4 VP is leaking an oil like substance from the center where the plug wire goes to.

Junk. Will probably skip or miss under a load soon. Match the new one with the right resistance.

Absolutely bad. It's not a huge deal but try to get one that is epoxy filled instead of oil if possible.

Just get the correct coil for your engine.It's cheaper than getting towed...
