coils/pressure reads

How can I check ignition coils to see if their ok?<br />I need to check charging coils too....what is the most accurate method?<br />Also......# 2 cylinder has 95 lbs. pressure....# 1 & 3 have 120...what can cause this?

If you have good spark to all cylinders then your coils are fine. As to the difference in compression it could be a stuck ring, scored cylinder, broken ring, etc... It would be nice to know what engine that we are talking about. You might pull the head and have a look see. Should tell you a lot. Make sure that you buy a new head gasket and don't reuse the old one no matter how good it looks.

Do the decarb procedure before pulling it apart. Carbon build-up causing a stuck ring can cause low compression. If compression doesn't rise after decarbing, then pull the head and have a "look see". You need a service manual specific to your engine, you need a VOM (volt/ohmeter) and you need to know how to use them in order to check coil resistance and output. Visit your local library if you don't want to buy one. They often have manuals.
