I have a 1996 4.3L Mercruiser. When trying to start the first time of the day, the motor fires up immediately then once the fuel that is in the carburetor burns off, it stalls. It takes a LOT of cranking to pump the fuel back up to re-fire. I've been using starting fluid to get it to restart. Once it starts again, it starts fine all day and will run at wide open throttle with no problem. I figured that the gas was running back into the tank after sitting so I tried replacing the anti-siphon valve, but that didn't work. I also checked to see if the fuel pump was getting juice while cranking and it is.
