You have to borrow or buy a compression tester.<br /><br />Remove the spark plugs and install the compression tester starting at # 1 cyl.<br /><br />Turn the engine over with the key for about 5 seconds.<br /><br />Read the guage.<br /><br />Then proceed with the next cyl.<br /><br />TMD

YOu can buy a compression tester from sears for 25 bucks. Make sure lower unit is in water when you do this test. You could burn out your impeller after you are done testing all the cylinders
